You're going to develop more than your onstage skill - even though that will grow by leaps and bounds - because working in a worship ministry requires so much more than that. You have to have a solid theological foundation for worship, be a capable music director, be able to build a team, train volunteers, navigate a church staff, and so much more. That’s what we’re going to train you to do.
Each class in the Worship Major's custom curriculum is designed to help you go beyond developing your skills, to building your future employability by dramatically widening your area of expertise. This means that you'll get a broad set of production skills on top of your musical development.
"This truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Getting to work alongside a talented and passionate team that is always willing to help is truly a blessing. I’ve been given opportunities I had only dreamed of. I absolutely love where I am right now in life, and that’s because of Thrive."
Teddy Salmon, Worship Major, Class of 2017
The Worship Major has a huge focus on hands-on learning. That's because the same people who actually find and hire new Worship staff at Bayside Church designed the program - so we know that experience is what really counts on a resume. And you'll be working alongside an amazing team. From our staff worship leaders and musicians to the programming and production teams that make services happen, your instructors and leaders are actually doing the things they teach, in real ministry, every day.
Thrive School's Worship Major is designed to help you build your future employability by widening your area of expertise. You're going to develop more than your onstage skill, because working in a worship ministry requires so much more than that.
To work on a modern worship staff, you have to be more than just a worship leader or musician. You've got to be a capable music director, team builder, sound engineer, volunteer leader... So that’s (some of) how we’re going to train you.
From our staff worship leaders and musicians to the programming and production teams that make services happen, your instructors and leaders are actually doing the things they teach, in real ministry, every day.
Developing your skills for a life of ministry is vital - but your personal growth is what keeps our team up at night. We’re fanatically committed to seeing you develop as a Christ-follower, as an individual, as a friend, and as a leader.
HOW IT ALL WORKS
This is a good way to sum up the Two-Year Certificate experience: People don't become great by taking it easy. That's why you'll be challenged, and given responsibility. For a lot of students, it's refreshing to have a lot expected of them. To be shown the next level, and expected to rise to the occasion. Our team, and the peers around you, support you every step of the way.
THE BIG QUESTIONS
Most students join Thrive School intending on completing a Two-Year Certificate in their chosen Major, and that's how we've designed the program to be most effective. If you're asking yourself... How are the years different? Can I just attend for one? What happens afterward?
